Montag, 11. Mai 2026, 13:00 - Sonntag, 17. Mai 2026, 17:00 Installation von Kawai Makito, Imai Sosen und Nakamura Hidefumi: „The Shape of Space. Holding Promise and Loss. Eine Annäherung an das ‚Dazwischen‘“
Im Februar, als die Kälte noch über dem Satogawa lag, begegnete ich beim Skizzieren einem verletzten weißen Reiher.
Als ich zurückkehrte, war er bereits gestorben; in seiner Nähe wuchsen Narzissen.
In dieser Konstellation verdichten sich unterschiedliche Zustände: Leben und Tod, Helligkeit und Dunkelheit.
Es entstand der Eindruck eines Raumes, der sich nicht eindeutig festlegen lässt – eines Dazwischen.
Ausgehend von dieser Wahrnehmung entwickelt der Keramiker Kawai Makito eine Installation aus weißem Tonsand und keramischen Formen. Die Arbeit entfaltet sich als fragiles Gefüge, in dem sich Prozesse des Werdens und Vergehens einschreiben.
Die Ikebana-Meisterin Imai Sosen bringt pflanzliche Elemente ein, die teilweise in die keramische Anlage übergehen und deren räumliche Struktur aufnehmen und fortführen.
Der Maler Nakamura Hidefumi greift Motive dieser Konstellation auf und hält flüchtige Erscheinungen in seinen Bildern fest.
Im Zusammenspiel entsteht ein offener Raum, der sich einer eindeutigen Deutung entzieht.
Im Anschluss an die Ausstellungseröffnung am 13. Mai findet eine Performance mit Satō Yasuko (Koto) und Kadowaki Ouchi (Shakuhachi) statt.
しばらくして戻ると、その鷺はすでに息絶えており、傍らには水仙が咲いていました。
その光景の中で、生と死、光と闇といった異なる状態が重なり合い、
どちらにも属さない「あわい」のような空間が立ち現れました。
この体験を起点に、陶芸家・川合牧人は、白い陶砂と陶の造形によるインスタレーションを展開します。
そこには、生成と消滅のプロセスが織り込まれた、移ろいゆく空間が広がります。
いけばな作家・今井蒼泉は、植物素材を用いてその空間に関わり、
陶の構成と響き合いながら、空間の広がりと時間性を引き出します。
画家・中村秀文は、この光景に着想を得て、移ろう瞬間を絵画として定着させます。
それぞれの要素が重なり合うことで、明確な意味に収まらない、開かれた空間が生まれます。
なお、展覧会オープニング後には、箏・佐藤康子、尺八・門脇央知による演奏が行われます。

The Shape of Space. Holding Promise and Loss
An Approach to the “In-Between”
In February, when the cold still lingered over the Satogawa, I encountered an injured white heron while sketching.
When I returned later, it had already died; nearby, clusters of narcissus were in bloom.
In this constellation, different states seemed to converge: life and death, light and darkness.
What emerged was the impression of a space that resists clear definition—an in-between.
From this perception, ceramic artist Kawai Makito develops an installation composed of white clay sand and ceramic forms.
The work unfolds as a fragile structure in which processes of becoming and passing are inscribed.
Ikebana master Imai Sosen introduces plant elements that partially merge with the ceramic setting, extending and continuing its spatial structure.
Painter Nakamura Hidefumi takes up motifs from this constellation and captures fleeting appearances in his works.
Together, these elements form an open space that resists singular interpretation.
Following the exhibition opening, a performance will take place with Satō Yasuko (koto) and Kadowaki Ouchi (shakuhachi).
